Brian and I are very humbled by the graciousness of people hosting a wedding shower for us.  We ask that in lieu of giving a traditional wedding shower gift, that you give a donation to Healing Waters International. We have decided to do this because we support the work of Healing Waters and, as a school teacher, I am amazed at how many children in the world do not have access to safe water. For example:

• More than 1.5 million children under the age of 5 die from water borne illnesses each year.
• Diarrhea is the second leading cause of morbidity and mortality among children.
• Five times more children die due to diarrheal diseases than HIV/AIDS.
